USLI Team Successful in Competition
Congratulations to the USLI Senior design team for its recent success in a national competition against other university teams. In this competition, the team had to design and construct a re-useable dual deployment rocket capable of carrying a payload to an altitude of one mile.
The NASA University Student Launch competition just concluded at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Tooele County, Utah. This competition matched over 250 students from 31 different universities across the United States. At the post launch banquet the USLI senior design team from UNC Charlotte won the prestigious best vehicle design award for the most creative, innovative and safety conscious rocket design in the competition.
Team members were students Jerry Dahlberg, John Cappalletti, Daniel Deese, Dewey Greer, Benjamin Griffiths, Matthew Perry, Daniel Saulnier, Robert Stone and Caleb Watts, and mentor Karen Thorsett-Hill.
